Our Story

The Kitsap Jewish Alliance was born out of a moment of both challenge and possibility.

In recent years, we’ve watched as conversations about Israel, Judaism, and Jewish identity have become increasingly polarized—even here in Kitsap County. Organizations – local, national, and international – have sought to shape narratives that spread misinformation or silence Jewish perspectives, both in public spaces and online. On social media, even local neighborhood groups, false claims and antisemitic tropes have circulated widely, spreading misinformation and division.

In our local schools Jewish students have faced antisemitic incidents, ranging from graffiti to classroom conversations that question Israel’s very right to exist. Many of us have also become more aware of security concerns in places where we should feel safest—our synagogues, community spaces, and cultural institutions.

In these challenges, we saw an opportunity.

We came together as neighbors, friends, and allies determined to ensure that Jewish life in Kitsap is visible, valued, and protected. We believe that being Jewish should never mean feeling alone or silenced. We also believe that education, advocacy, and honest conversation are the best tools we have to build bridges and foster understanding.

So we created the Kitsap Jewish Alliance: a nonpartisan, community-led organization dedicated to safeguarding and supporting the Jewish community of Kitsap County. Together, we confront antisemitism, embrace our Jewish identity—including our enduring connection to Israel—and build partnerships to ensure that every Jew can live safely, openly, and proudly.

We are committed to local action, rapid response when hate arises, and community engagement rooted in Jewish history, resilience, and values. And above all, we are here to affirm that Jewish voices deserve to be heard and respected in every corner of our community.
